Re-operation of intercity buses with a capacity of 50%
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority announced the re-operation of the intercity buses
lines 113, 313, 308 and 309 connecting the Emirates of Sharjah and Dubai as of Sunday, 27
September 2020 in accordance with the regular schedules. The Sharjah Roads and Transport
Authority shall apply the necessary preventive and precautionary measures for the safety and
security all passengers.
Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Jarwan, Director of Transportation Affairs Authority, stated that the operation
of some lines connecting the Emirates of Sharjah and Dubai is considered the second stage of the
gradual return to providing the mass transit services in the emirate, while compliance with all
precautionary measures in line with the decision issued by the Supreme Committee of Crisis and
Disaster Management, noting that the capacity of buses has been reduced to 50%, in addition to
applying the physical distancing in buses, and requiring passengers to wear masks and gloves
while using buses and all waiting station facilities in addition to install entrances and gates
with a thermal camera to measure the temperatures of passengers.
He also explained that the lines that will be resumed are Line 113 linking between Al Rolla and
Al Rashidiya metro stations, passing through Jubail and Al Qusais Industrial stations, Line 313
linking between Al Rolla stations and Dubai Airport Terminal 2, Line 308 linking between Al
Rolla and Jebel Ali stations passing through Jubail and Ibn Battuta stations and Line 309
linking between Rolla and Emirates Mall stations passing through Jubail and Al Quoz stations.
Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Jarwan confirmed that the authority is committed to apply the sterilization
operations all the day before the departure of intercity bus trips at dawn from Jubail or
Al-Rola station until its return to the station and after each trip by qualified and highly
experienced teams in the field of sterilization and disinfection in accordance with the
applicable standards in order to eliminate any viruses and reduce the chances of transmission of
infection. The Authority provides hand sanitizer devices in all buses and apply all preventive
and proactive measures to all employees and drivers to achieve comprehensive health security.
It should be noted that the Authority had announced the suspension of transportation between
cities and the closure the Jubail Bus Station since 14 April in line with the national
sterilization program, and then the Authority announced later in coordination with the Sharjah
Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Team to re-operate the Jubail bus station and intercity
transportation lines as of 15 September after providing all necessary precautionary and
preventive measures for the safety of all passengers.
