Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi Square
Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) announced about ending up the completion ofthe
development works of Shaikh Muhammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Square and its entirely opening for
traffic, being a part of the second phase of the project to develop the emirate’s squares and
turning them into permanent light-signal intersections to put an end to traffic jams. Achieving
the SRTA vision in providing safe and orderly movement routes.
His Excellency Eng. Yousef Khamis Al-Othmani confirms that the development process included the
reconstruction of the square and the routes leading to it in the four directions, and this is at
800 meters for Muhammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi street and 700 meters for Mirqab street to increase
the absorption capacity of intersection area and toideally distribute the movement there. The
routes have been extended in the intersection area to be consisted of three lanes three lanes at
most, or two lanes to keep moving in the same direction, in addition to two lanes to keep moving
in the left direction further turning around.
