SRTA allocates 10 millions dhs for old taxi number plates owners
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA),has started paying out an outlay of Dh 10
million in compensation to the owners of old taxi number plates.
Eng. Yousef Saleh Al Suwaiji, Chairman, SRTA, said the annual bonus has been approved for up to
5,000 Emirati nationals.
“These old taxi number plates are now being operated by franchise companies under the Sharjah
Roads and Transport Authority.”
The regular bonus, directed by His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme
Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and followed up by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin
Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive
Council, is aimed to support Emirati nationals, help them lead a decent life, and boost
community solidarity.
“As such, the total annual compensation paid out to the owners of old taxi number plates
amounted to Dh42 million.”
Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, SRTA Director for Transport Affairs, said they give out Dh2,000 per each
number plate. “This means an annual bonus of Dh10 million.”
The authority also pays an annual compensation of Dh30 million to the owners of old taxi number
plates, he disclosed.
“Up to Dh2.5 million are actually paid to those beneficiaries every month - Dh500 per city taxi
and Dh1,000 per intercity taxi.”
However, these compensations are only paid after meeting certain conditions and submitting due
ownership documents of old taxi number plates, Al Jarwan underlined.
“The owners of old taxi number plates, who have not submitted the necessary documents, are urged
to do the needful to receive their dues,” he advised. “The authority can be reached for
