SRTA completes development of Al Buraimi intersection
Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced the completion of the work to develop
and maintain Al Haj Ismail Al Buraimi intersection at a cost of AED 5 million, as a continuation
of its plan to develop the efficiency of the emirate’s fields, as stated by His Excellency
Engineer Yousef Saleh Al Suwaiji, Chairman of the SRTA, who in turn confirmed that the
development of Sharjah’s fields came in implementation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr.
Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
His Excellency added that the authority has developed a plan that includes the development of 8
intersections, 6 of which have been completed, according to the highest standards and technical
specifications, and soon the announcement of the completion of the remaining maintenance and
development work according to the predetermined schedule.
Engineer Mohsen Balawan, Director of Roads Maintenance Department at the Authority, said that
the maintenance work of the Al Haj Ismail Al Buraimi intersection, located between Al Shahba and
Al Darari industrial areas - Industrial 6 - included the removal of cement barriers on the sides
of the intersection, maintenance work for asphalt and sidewalks and adding a third lane to all
roads surrounding the intersection.
Balwan added that the works included providing traffic safety and security factors, as fences
for pedestrian protection with a length of 1600 meters were installed, and 8 pedestrian
crossings were completed around the intersection and inside, taking into account the aesthetic
shape of the intersection, with the installation of a number of traffic panels for pedestrian
crossings.
