Sharjah Transport receives 10973 taxi booking requests.
Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, stated that the
Authority received 10,973 taxi booking requests through taxi Butler, during the period from
January to last October.
Al-Jarwan affirmed that the Authority is keen to use modern technics & technologies that
contribute in providing welfare for Sharjah residents and visitors, as the device contributes in
shortening the time by pressing a button.
He added that the booking via the device is one of the most important factors that attract the
people to use mass transport, as it facilitated the process of taxis spread in the right places
in order to ensure its arrival to the customer at the maximum speed, and the total number of the
same reached to 80 devices distributed in various regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, including
10 devices in the Eastern region in order to provide the latest systems providing the greatest
welfare for taxi users, especially in the crowded and densely populated places, and the number
of requests to book the vehicles via the device reached to 3,301 requests at the Centro Sharjah
Hotel.
It is noteworthy that the Authority is taking permanent and immediate preventive measures to
prevent the spread of novel Coronavirus from the beginning of the pandemic, including that all
taxis are subject to daily sterilization processes, and the drivers are also committed to follow
up the preventive health practices by wearing masks and gloves continuously, as well as
sterilizing the vehicle after customers get off, and taking all necessary measures to maintain
the society health and safety.
